COLUMBIA, SC. - Miles College outscored Benedict 21-3 to take the victory in the final game of the SIAC baseball series on Monday.
The Tigers scored their only three runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 6-3. Jalen McDuffie hit a home run to right field. Fareed Mizelle hit a home run to center field, and Justin Murray scored on the play. The Tigers were held to five hits in the contest.
The Golden Bears, now 2-1 in the SIAC, scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to extend their lead to 9-3, then scored 12 runs in the ninth.
Benedict, now 1-2 overall and in the SIAC, will play a non-conference doubleheader against Lincoln University on Thursday at Tiger Field starting at 12 p.m.
