COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Benedict College Tigers had their top performing offensive outputs of the season as they swept Lincoln University in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.
The Tigers won their first game 9-6. Benedict scored a season-high 23 runs in the second game to take a 23-3 victory.
In the second game, the Tigers hit six home runs. In the first inning, Benedict scored nine runs.
Jalen McDuffie homered, sending
Jacob Hall home.
Kenyan Conner Jr. smashed a three-run homer to left center field. Benedict hit back to back home runs, with
Isaiah Canty hitting two home runs in the game for the Tigers. Canty had his first home run of the game in the second inning to drive in two runs.
William Martinez had his first home run of the season to left field.
Fareed Mizelle hit his first home run of the game, a three-run blast to right field. Canty hit his second home run in the fourth inning for another pair of RBIs.
Kaden Hindman picked up the win in the second game for his first win of the season. Hindman pitched five innings, gave up three hits, struck out one, and held the Lions to two runs.
In the first game, the Tigers knocked three home runs. In the second inning, Canty homered to left field for two runs, sending Mizelle home. In the third inning, McDuffie had a three-run homer to right field to take a 3-2 lead.
Tigers improve to 3-2 overall, Lincoln drops to 1-4-1 overall.
Benedict takes on LeMoyne-Owen College on Sunday at 1 p.m for a SIAC series.
