ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State swept a softball doubleheader over the Benedict College Lady Tigers on Saturday.
Albany State scored five runs in the sixth inning to take a 12-6 victory in the first game. The Lady Golden Rams scored six runs in the fourth inning to take an 11-3 victory in five innings in the second game.
The Lady Tigers were held to five hits in the first game.
Tre'sor Eady had two hits.
Olivia Townsend had a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
In the second game, Benedict had five hits again.
T'yannah Lake had two hits, including a solo homer in the third inning to cut the lead to 4-3. The Lady Golden Rams then scored one run in the bottom of the third inning, then scored six runs on six hits in the fourth.
Benedict, now 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the SIAC, will take on Albany State in the third game of the conference series on Sunday. Albany State improved to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC.
