JASPER, Ala. – The Benedict College softball team picked up a pair of wins on Monday at the SIAC Crossover Tournament to finish 2-2.
The Lady Tigers defeated Kentucky State 6-2 in the first game of the day as
T'yannah Lake drove in three runs and
Tre'sor Eady drove in two.
Deyonce Lewis had a double and triple and drove in one run.
Savannah Marshall went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out five.
In the second game of the day, the Lady Tigers erupted for 13 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 27-2 victory over LeMoyne-Owen College.
Tanijah Washington went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs, hitting a bases-loaded triple in the third inning. Lewis went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scored five runs. Eady drove in a pair of runs, bringing home
Daneshia Wooten on a first-inning triple.
Chesney Miller had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs.
Kierra Evans earned the win, pitching all five innings, striking out four and allowing four hits and one walk.
The final two games of the crossover were cancelled due to weather.
Benedict, now 5-14 overall and 2-5 in the SIAC, takes on Winston-Salem State on Wednesday in a non-conference game at 1 p.m. at Tiger Field. The game will be streamed live on Black College Sports Network.
