COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers scored in every inning to take a 12-2 victory over Tuskegee in the first game of a SIAC baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Tuskegee scored four runs in the fifth inning to pull away from a close game and take a 9-3 victory in the second game.
In the first game,
Jacob Hall went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, bringing in a pair of runs with a sixth-inning triple.
Jalen McDuffie drove home a pair of runs with an infield single.
Justin Murray drove home a pair of runs with two groundouts.
Kenyan Conner Jr. had a two-run double in the fifth inning.
Nicholas Gioia went the distance, allowing four hits, no earned runs, struck out seven and walked two.
In the second game, Tuskegee scored the first two runs, but Benedict tied the game on an RBI single by
Jamell Mitchell Jr. and a sacrifice fly by
Kent Johnson. Tuskegee got the go-ahead run on a solo home run in the fourth inning, then pushed across four runs in the fifth inning, getting a three-run homer.
Benedict, now 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the SIAC, and Tuskegee (3-9, 2-3 SIAC) will meet on Monday at noon in the third game of the series.
