MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill erupted for 19 runs on 22 hits as the Badgers completed a three-game sweep over the Benedict College Tigers 19-7 on Monday in a SIAC contest.
Benedict took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning as three hit batsmen loaded the bases and
Jamell Mitchell Jr. singled to score two runs.
After Spring Hill tied the game with two runs in the second inning, Benedict added another run in the third inning as
Frankey Moree singled to score
Taj Bates for a 4-3 lead.
The Badgers (15-8 overall, 11-1 SIAC) sent 14 batters to the plate in the third inning to score nine runs on nine hits, including a three-run homer. After Benedict got an RBI single by Bates in the top of the fourth inning, the Badgers added six more runs in the bottom of the fourth on nine more hits, all singles, for an 18-5 lead.
Jalen McDuffie added a two-run single in the sixth inning for Benedict's other two runs.
The Tigers, now 7-7 overall and 6-6 in the SIAC, are home this weekend for a three-game series against Kentucky State. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon.
