ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State pounded out 30 hits in two games to sweep a SIAC baseball doubleheader over the Benedict College Tigers on Saturday.
Albany State won the first game 16-5 and took the second game 12-1 to improve to 27-9 overall and 24-2 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 12-18 overall and 10-16 in the SIAC.
Taj Bates went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Jose Gil and
Frankey Moree had two hits each.
In the second game, the Golden Rams held the Tigers to just three hits.
Jalen McDuffie was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to drive home
Kent Johnson for Benedict's only run in the game. Johnson had two of Benedict's three hits.
The Tigers and Golden Rams will conclude their three-game series with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
