COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College men's volleyball player
Clint Forbes Jr. has been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
The men's at-large program recognizes student-athletes in the sports of men's ice hockey, lacrosse, water polo, fencing, skiing, golf, gymnastics, volleyball, and wrestling. The Academic All-District® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Forbes was also among the select Academic All-District® honorees who will advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 17.
Forbes graduated in May with a degree in finance. He finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA and was named the School of Business Outstanding Senior of the Year. At the Benedict athletic banquet, he received the David H. Swinton Power For Good Award, presented to the college's top scholar-athlete. He also earned the SIAC Elite 14 Award twice during his playing career.
On the court, Forbes was the leader of the men's volleyball team from his Libero position. He was named the 2024 SIAC Libero of the Year, and the 2023 SIAC preseason Defensive Player of the Year. This season, he led the NCAA with 3.22 digs per set. He had three matches of 20 or more digs, with a season-high of 27.
Forbes volunteered as a certified tax preparer with the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, and also assisted with food drives and campus clean-ups.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
