ATLANTA, Ga. – Morehouse jumped out to a 21 point first half lead and went on to take an 84-73 victory in a SIAC men's basketball game on Sunday afternoon in Forbes Arena.
Morehouse used a 12-2 run late in the first half to take a 43-21 lead. A 3-pointer by
Tariq Shepherd cut the lead to 43-25 at the half. Benedict was able to get within 10 points, 54-44, with 14:45 left in the game after a basket by
Donte Whymns, but Morehouse scored the next six points and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Shepherd led the Tigers with 17 points, while
Cadarius Baggett and
Caleb Hymon added 11 points each. Benedict falls to 3-11 overall and 3-5 in the SIAC.
Morehouse, now 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC, had four players in double figures and shot 51.6 percent for the game, including shooting 61.5 percent in the second half.
The Tigers remain in Atlanta to take on Clark Atlanta on Monday at 6 p.m.
