SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State scored the final nine points of the first half to build a 15-point halftime lead and cruised to a 64-49 victory over Benedict in a SIAC men's basketball game on Saturday.
Benedict opened the game by scoring the first five points, but Savannah State rallied to lead 17-9 midway through the first half. Benedict cut the lead to 17-16 with 9:20 left in the half before Savannah State closed out the first half with a 19-5 run.
Savannah State (9-10, 7-8 SIAC) built the lead to as much as 21 points, 57-36, with 7:48 remaining in the game. Benedict falls to 4-18 overall and 4-11 in the SIAC.
Caleb Hymon had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Cadarius Baggett added 10 points.
