HOOVER, Ala. – The Benedict College softball team opened up play at the SIAC Crossover Tournament with two losses on Tuesday.
In their first game, Lane scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull away for an 11-4 victory.
In their second game, the Lady Tigers were held to five hits and scored their only run in the first inning as Kentucky State took a 6-1 victory.
Megan Blanks had an RBI double against Lane.
T'yannah Lake had an RBI single in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Lane then scored seven runs in the fifth inning on five hits, two Benedict errors and two hit batsmen.
Kentucky State opened the second game with three runs in the first inning. Benedict answered in the bottom of the first with a run on a
Taylor Gilbert sacrifice fly. Blanks had two of Benedict's five hits.
The Lady Tigers will continue play in the SIAC Crossover on Wednesday with games against LeMoyne-Owen at noon and Tuskegee at 4 p.m.
