ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers snapped a nine-game losing streak to Albany State as
Savanna Marshall threw a no-hitter in a complete-game 1-0 shutout on Saturday in the first game of their SIAC series.
Albany State held the Lady Tigers without a hit in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader to take a 10-0 victory. In Sunday's third game, Albany State shut out the Lady Tigers again in a 9-0 victory.
Benedict moves to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the SIAC. Albany State goes to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the SIAC.
Marshall, the reigning SIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, held Albany State without a hit in Saturday's 1-0 Benedict victory. She struck out four, walked one and did not allow a hit in seven innings of work. The Lady Tigers scored the only run of the game in the third inning, as
Heaven Strickland hit an infield single and later advanced to second base. Strickland scored on a single by
Megan Blanks.
In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, Albany State pitcher Kali Barns threw a no-hitter, striking out eight and allowing one walk.
Albany State's Tris Murphy threw a no-hitter in Sunday's deciding third game, striking out seven Benedict batters and did not allow a walk.
Benedict returns to action next weekend with a three-game SIAC series at Clark Atlanta.
