COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Edward Waters on Sunday at Tiger Field.
The two teams completed the second game of Saturday's doubleheader which was suspended due to darkness. Edward Waters had a 15-2 lead when the game was stopped and ended up with a 21-4 victory. Edward Waters won the third game of the series 13-10.
Edward Waters improves to 14-9 overall and 8-4 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 7-6 overall and 5-6 in the SIAC.
In the second game, Edward Waters had a 7-2 lead before scoring eight runs in the fourth inning to take a 15-2 lead, and play was suspended on Saturday. When the game resumed on Sunday, Edward Waters added two more runs in the fifth and four runs in the top of the seventh for a 21-2 lead. Benedict added two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run home run by
Carson Fellows.
Benedict was held to seven hits, and also committed seven errors.
In the third game, Benedict got a two-run single from
Cameron Haley in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score at 2-2. Edward Waters then went on to take a 13-3 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Benedict pushed across one run in the eighth, then scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Nicholas Gioia had a three-run home run. Errors once again plagued the Tigers, committing six.
Benedict will travel to Savannah State next weekend for a three-game SIAC series.
