TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Benedict College baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead and went on to take a 9-5 victory over Tuskegee in a SIAC contest on Friday afternoon.
Brailin Duran, the reigning SIAC Pitcher of the Week, had another strong outing for the Tigers, who improve to 16-10 overall and 14-10 in the SIAC. Duran went eight innings, scattered nine hits, struck out nine and walked just one to improve to 5-0 on the mound. Tuskegee falls to 12-26 overall and 8-17 in the SIAC.
Benedict scored four runs in the third inning on an RBI single by
Justin Murray, and a bases-loaded double by
Carson Fellows that scored three runs. Benedict added two more runs in the fifth inning for a 6-0 lead.
Tuskegee scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-4. Benedict scored three runs in the eighth inning on just one hit, a Tuskegee error, and three walks.
Jaquez Akins had an RBI single.
Benedict and Tuskegee will wrap up their conference series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon Central Time.
