Benedict's Hardy Invited To HBCU All-Star Game

NEW YORK, N.Y, -- Former Benedict College women's basketball player Ciara Hardy has been invited to participate in the 3rd HBCU Allstar Dream Classic at Rucker Park in Harlem, N.Y.

The event will take place on August 9 at the world-famous Holcombe Rucker Park and will feature 40 of the best HBCU men's and women's basketball players. The initiative has proved a huge drawn for alumni, students and community to celebrate the HBCU Culture while higher education is on break.

Hardy averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for the Lady Tigers last season.

"Ciara is a dynamic, versatile guard who stepped up as our starting point guard this season. Although we didn't recruit her to play that role, we were fortunate that she was talented enough to take it on, and she did a good job," said Benedict head coach James Rice. "She was named our team's Offensive Player of the Year, finishing as our third-leading scorer, team leader in assists, and second in both field goal percentage (.445) and three-point percentage (.342). I'm excited she's getting the opportunity to showcase her talent on a national stage and represent our program and college. She deserves it, and this is just the beginning as she continues her basketball career."

The experience will be the merging of HBCU sports, education and traditions with Urban Streetball Culture. These exceptional athletes will represent the CIAA, MEAC, SIAC, SWAC, Gulf Coast, NAIA and independent conferences. Coaches, G-Leagues, European Leagues and Sports Agents will be in attendance.
