COLUMBIA, S.C. – Edward Waters used a 12-2 run in the second half to take the lead and held off the Benedict College Tigers 60-55 in a SIAC men's basketball contest on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Edward Waters held Benedict scoreless for the first eight minutes of the game and built a 15-0 lead. The Tigers clawed their way back into the game, using an 11-0 run late in the first half to cut the lead to three points, 23-20, and trailed by just five points, 29-24, at the half.

Caleb Hymon gave Benedict its first lead of the game, 34-32, with 16:22 remaining in the game. The game remained close for the rest of the way, with four lead changes and five ties over the next several minutes. The final lead change came on an Edward Waters three-point play with 4:15 left in the game for a 50-49 lead. That was part of a seven-point run for Edward Waters, which eventually built the lead to 56-50 with 1:46 left to play.
Benedict, playing in its final regular season home game, falls to 10-12 overall and 10-12 in the SIAC. Edward Waters improves to 14-12 overall and 12-10 in the SIAC.
Hymon led the Tigers with 16 points.
Kameron Foman had a double-double, with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Benedict wraps up the season with a pair of road games, traveling to Spring Hill on Thursday before closing out the regular season at Albany State on Saturday.
