FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State pulled away from a close game by scoring eight runs in the final two innings to take a 10-1 victory in SIAC softball action on Sunday afternoon.
Fort Valley scored a run in the first inning, and Benedict tied the game in the second on an RBI single by
Shamaria Dupree. The game remained tied at 1 until Fort Valley State scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Wildcats scored four runs in the fifth inning, and added four more runs in the sixth to close out the game.
Elisha Ramirez went 2-for-2 to lead the Lady Tigers at the plate.
Benedict (0-7 overall, 0-1 in the SIAC) and Fort Valley State (3-4 overall, 1-0 in the SIAC) will wrap up their conference series with a doubleheader on Monday, starting at 1 p.m.
