FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State University swept a softball doubleheader over Benedict College on Monday.
Fort Valley (5-4 overall, 3-0 SIAC) scored 15 runs in the first inning of the first game and took a 22-1 victory. Fort Valley took a 17-0 lead in the second game before Benedict scored a run in the fifth for the 17-1 final score.
The Lady Tigers were held to two hits in the first game, with
Myia Lambert collecting one of the hits and driving in their only run on a sacrifice fly.
Shamaria Dupree had the other hit.
In the second game, Benedict had five hits.
Taylor Gilbert went 2-for-2 and
Tamia Daniels had an RBI single.
The Lady Tigers, now 0-9 overall and 0-3 in the SIAC, return to action with a three-game SIAC series against Albany State next weekend. The series starts with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
