COLUMBIA, S.C. – On a cold and blustery day, the Benedict College bats were hot, as the Tigers pelted out 24 hits, including five home runs, as they swept a doubleheader over Lane College in a SIAC baseball doubleheader on Monday at Tiger Field.
The Tigers (3-3 overall, 3-3 SIAC) won the first game 20-1 as they had 14 hits, including a pair of home runs. Benedict concluded the three-game sweep over the Dragons (4-9 overall, 2-4 SIAC) with a 13-8 victory in the second game that saw them knock three more home runs.
Kenyan Conner Jr. had a home run in each game and went 4-for-7 with six RBIs on the day.
Joshua Medina had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-7 with seven RBIs on the day.
Colin Jones had a three-run homer in the first game.
Cameron Haley had a two-run homer in the second game, while
Elijah Banks had a solo shot.
Jaquez Akins went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the first game.
Adam Zendejas picked up the win on the mound in the first game, going six innings and allowed just five hits and struck out four.
Christopher Trujillo Ruiz earned the win on the mound for the second game.
The Tigers will look to continue their winning streak when they host Paine College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, starting at noon.
