SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Benedict College softball team dropped a pair of games to Savannah State on Friday in SIAC play.
Savannah State won the first game 8-4, then took the second game 14-0.
In the first game, the Lady Tigers were within striking distance early.
Shamaria Dupree scored on a wild pitch in the third inning to cut the lead to 2-1. After Savannah State added a run in the bottom of the third inning, Benedict got an RBI single by
Hillary Haynes in the fourth inning to make it 3-2.
Savannah State scored two runs in the fifth to increase the lead to 5-2. Benedict answered with a run in the sixth on a solo home run by
Hope Gunn to make the score 5-3. Savannah State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Tamia Daniels had an RBI single in the seventh to wrap up the scoring.
Savannah State had 12 hits and took advantage of six Benedict errors in the second game. Damiels and Haynes each had a single for the Lady Tigers.
Benedict (8-28 overall, 4-16 in the SIAC) and Savannah State (22-13 overall, 13-7 SIAC) will wrap up their conference series with a single game on Saturday at noon.
