home run against Tuskegee on Saturday
Wooten did not surrender a hit until a one-out solo home run in the ninth inning as Benedict won the first game 6-1. He walked two and struck out eight as he improved to 7-1 on the season. Kent Johnson and Milton Herring both had solo home runs.

Benedict won the second game 4-2, getting a go-ahead RBI single by Jaquez Akins in the fourth inning. Akins also had a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Christopher Trujillo Ruiz wrapped up the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

The second game also saw some excellent pitching. Adam Zendejas came on in relief in the fourth inning and finished the game, allowing just one hit in 3 2/3 innings of work, while striking out five.

Akins had a big day at the plate for the Tigers. He went 2-for-4 with one RBI in the first game, and was 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the second game. Milton Herring had a solo seventh-inning home run in the first game, while Kenyan Conner Jr. had an RBI double. Lewis Brown also had a double, as five of Benedict's seven hits in the first game went for extra bases.

The Tigers were limited to just five hits in the second game, but they made those count, with Ruiz and Akins providing home runs.

Benedict, now 18-10 overall and 16-10 in the SIAC, and Tuskegee (11-29 overall, 8-20 in the SIAC) will wrap up their series with a single game on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. at Eau Claire High School. The Tigers will recognize seven seniors playing their final home game prior to the first pitch.
