FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Benedict College baseball team scored nine runs in the final three innings to rally past Miles College 14-9 in the first game of their SIAC doubleheader on Friday.
Miles scored five runs in the first inning of the second game and held on for a 9-4 victory.
Lewis Brown went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the first game.
Joshua Medina drove home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to give Benedict a 10-9 lead. Medina went 3-for-6 with two RBIs.
Cameron Haley went 2-for-5, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Anthony Ramos came on in relief in the seventh inning and pitched the final three innings, allowing just one hit, striking out four and did not walk a batter, to earn the win on the mound.
Miles scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Tigers cut the lead to 5-4 in the third inning after Haley drove home two runs with a single. Miles scored four runs in the fifth inning.
Benedict (20-11 overall, 18-11 SIAC) and Miles (20-21 overall, 13-18 SIAC) will complete their SIAC series with a single game on Saturday, starting at noon Central Time.
