COLUMBIA, SC --The Lady Tigers went 3-3 in the 1st SIAC Roundup hosted by Benedict College.
The Lady Tigers started off the tournament with a win against Albany State.
Chloe Jean-Charles and
Jessica Carswell clinched the match with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-3 in their singles matches.
Fort Valley State won two doubles matches and three singles for a 5-3 victory.
Keneisha Whittington and first year player
Darnel Howlett got the Lady Tigers their only doubles point with an 8-0 win.
Glory Zhou and Whittington won their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively.
Benedict picked up a 7-0 win over Lane.
The Lady Tigers then suffered a defeat to the defending champion Clark Atlanta University, losing the opening three doubles matches and fell 5-4.
Benedict would take a 9-0 win over an injury-shortened LeMoyne-Owens team. Carswell and
Glory Zhou edged out a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles and Jean-Charles and
India Cowell won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Jean-Charles, Zhou and
Keneisha Whittington also won in singles play.
In the final matchup of the roundup the Lady Tigers went up against Tuskegee University and suffered a 5-3 defeat. Jean-Charles and Cowell picked up an 8-5 win at No.2 doubles. Whittington also won her singles match, and Zhou won in an injury walkover.
