ATLANTA -- The third-seeded Tigerettes of Tuskegee University stunned the No. 2 seed Benedict College Lady Tigers 5-0 Friday at the Morehouse Tennis Center to advance to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship match.
The Tigerettes wasted no time as they cruised to a 5-0 victory winning all three doubles matches as Shaneka Knight and Jazmine Scott defeated
Glory Zhou and
Jessica Carswell 8-4, Sunny Willoughby and Cheryl Dixon defeated
Chloe Jean-Charles and
India Cowell 8-3 while Christa Ratcliff and Jessica McGee defeated
Darnel Howlett and
Keneisha Whittington 9-7.
In singles action, Knight defeated Jean-Charles (6-2, 6-1) in the No. 1 position, while Scott defeated Carswell (6-1, 6-3) at the No. 3 position. Tuskegee will face No. 1 Fort Valley State at 12 p.m., in the championship match.
Benedict ends its season with a 13-12 overall and 9-4 in the SIAC.
