Brittany Jackson had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds as the Benedict College women's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 55-33 victory over Kentucky State University on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
The Lady Tigers held the Brettes to 25 percent shooting and forced 20 Kentucky State turnovers in holding their second straight opponent to under 34 points. Benedict held Kentucky State's Sharnita Lloyd, the leading scorer in the SIAC, scoreless.
Benedict opened the game with a 3-pointer by Richardson and never trailed. The Lady Tigers built as much as a 19-point lead in the first half, 28-9, with 46 seconds left in the half before the Brettes cut the lead to 28-13 at the half.
Benedict kept a double-digit lead throughout the second half. Kentucky State cut the lead to 42-30 with 6:39 to play, but the Lady Tigers scored seven straight points to take command and cruised to their fourth straight win.
The Lady Tigers improved to 4-1 in the SIAC and 7-10 overall.
Kentucky State dropped to 2-2 in the SIAC and 5-7 overall. Ikiah Palmer led the Brettes with 14 points.
Benedict is on the road Thursday, traveling to Tuskegee.
