Lady Tigers Roll Over Claflin, 77-35

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – London Richardson scored 19 points and the Benedict College Lady Tigers won by their largest margin of victory this season in a 77-35 victory over Claflin University on Monday night.

Benedict, now 12-11 overall and 9-2 in the SIAC, won its fifth game in a row.

LaTeia Brailey scored a season-high 17 points. Ashley Thompson added 12 points and Monique Weathers chipped in with 10. Maya Nelson had a season-high 12 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers forced 34 Claflin turnovers and outscored the Lady Panthers 31-6 on points off turnovers. Claflin shot just 10.3 percent in the first half, and finished the game at 17 percent (9-of-53).

The Lady Tigers scored the first nine points of the game and led wire-to-wire. Benedict took a 20-point lead, 25-5, on a jumper by Monique Weathers. Benedict held a 33-17 lead at the half.

A 12-0 run early in the second half gave Benedict a 59-28 lead, with Richardson scoring six points in that stretch. A 3-pointer by Jasmine Stubbs with 8:19 to play gave the Lady Tigers a 40-point lead, 70-30.

Claflin fell to 3-18 overall and 2-9 in the SIAC.

Benedict's next game is at Albany State on Thursday.
