Tigers Fall To Fort Valley State, 74-63

Box Score FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State pulled away in the final four minutes to take a 74-63 victory over Benedict College on Monday night in an SIAC men's basketball game.

The Tigers fell to 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State improved to 12-5 overall and 8-0 in the SIAC.

The Tigers struggled with their shooting, hitting 30 percent of their field goals (20-of-66) and went 7-of-23 on 3-point attempts.

Fort Valley State held a 29-26 lead at the half and took a 36-26 lead early in the second half after back-to-back dunks by Nigel Domineck. Domineck finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers came back and took a 40-39 lead on a three-point play by Deonte Johnson. After Fort Valley State retook the lead, Allen Elmore hit a 3-pointer for a 43-41 lead. Fort Valley State came back and got a 3-pointer by Brandon Davey to take a 44-43 lead and never trailed again.

Benedict cut the lead to 58-56 on a 3-pointer by Kareem Ransom with 5:22 left to play. The Wildcats went on an 8-2 run to take a 66-58 lead with 2:58 left to play and Benedict could not get any closer.

Lamar Adkins led the Tigers with 12 points, while Johnson added 11 and Ransom chipped in 10 points.

Davey led the Wildcats with 22 points.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, hosting Morehouse at 3 p.m.
