COLUMBIA, S.C. –Benedict College placed four baseball players on the PalmettoStateBaseball.com All-State team for NCAA Division II and NAIA schools, while two more were named to the All-Freshman Team.

Sophomore Daniel Young was named to the first team as a utility player. Young was named the SIAC Utility Player of the Year. A third baseman and outfielder, Young hit .354 (51-of-1344) from the plate and drove in 50 runs while notching six home runs, 14 doubles and two triples on the season. He also swiped 11 stolen bases and secured 15 walks to round out his second season with the Tigers.

Elisha McDaniel and Kevin Davis were named to the second team. McDaniel was a second-team outfielder, while Davis was second-team at utility. McDaniel hit .354 with 40 stolen bases, scored 30 runs and drove in 24. Davis played outfield, second base and shortstop. He hit .353 with 48 stolen bases. He scored 44 runs and drove in 24.

Darius Thompson was named honorable mention as a two-way pitcher and position player. Thompson hit .353 at the plate and was 1-4 on the mound.

James Roman and Anthony Walker were named honorable mention for the All-Freshman Team. Roman made the squad as a relief pitcher. He was 2-3 with one save. Walker was honorable mention as a position player. He hit .263 with 16 RBI.
