Benedict To Stream Athletic Events On Benedict Tigers Sports Network

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College is proud to announce the formation of the Benedict Tigers Sports Network, a streaming platform to show home athletic events, starting with the 2025-26 season.

All home events that are not available on either one of the HBCU Go platforms or ESPN platforms will be available on the Benedict Tigers Sports Network. Fans will be able to view the games at https://siacnetwork.tv/bctigers/. The stream will be free.

"We are excited to be able to bring our alumni, fans and families of out student-athletes, many who live around the country or around the globe, this opportunity to watch Benedict College athletic events," said Willie Washington, Benedict's Director of Athletics. "We certainly want all of our alumni and fans to attend events in person, but we know sometimes that is not possible. This will give those people an opportunity to watch and keep up with our exciting teams and hard-working student-athletes."

The first live event scheduled for the Benedict Tigers Sports Network is a women's volleyball match between Paine College and Benedict in the Lady Tigers' season opener on Sept. 4. That will be the first of 10 women's volleyball matches set to air on the Benedict Tigers Sports Network.

Three home football games are also scheduled for Benedict Tigers Sports Network – Oct. 4 vs. Allen; Oct. 11 vs. Fort Valley State; and Nov. 1 vs. Virginia-Lynchburg.

Men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball, baseball, and softball games will also be available to watch.

The initiative will be a collaborative effort between the athletics department and academics. Students will assist in the production of the contests and learn valuable skills.

Dr. Leon Geter, Interim Dean, School of Communication, Arts and Social Sciences & Director, Center for Cybersecurity, asserted that "the launch of the Benedict Tigers Sports Network is more than a streaming platform, it's a transformative learning experience for our students. For Mass Communication majors, this initiative offers direct, hands-on exposure to live broadcasting, production logistics, digital storytelling, and media operations at a professional level. But the impact doesn't stop there. Students from across disciplines, whether in business, computer science, cybersecurity, sports management, art, music, or criminal justice, will gain access to transferable skills in project management, technical coordination, and cross-functional collaboration that are highly sought after in today's global workforce. This is a prime example of how Benedict College continues to innovate at the intersection of academic excellence, experiential learning, and career readiness…we are excited!."
