COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's tennis team picked up two more wins on Friday in the SIAC Roundup to remain undefeated in conference play.
The Lady Tigers defeated Spring Hill College 7-0, then took a 5-3 victory over Clark Atlanta. In Thursday's opening round action, Benedict defeated LeMoyne-Owen 5-0 and Lane 5-0. Against Clark Atlanta,
Daniella Rios and
Esther Zelaya took an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles over Vonnick Boyogueno and DiAndrea Galloway. Benedict also took a victory at No. 3 doubles as
Juliet Campbell and
Adrienne Milow beat Khadija Elder and Vanessa Jean-Baptiste, 8-3. In singles action,
Karla Flores took a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Tori Pradier. Milow took a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Elder at No. 6 singles. Benedict's
Esther Zelaya clinched the match by rallying for a 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Boyogueno.
Benedict improves to 5-5 overall and 4-0 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers continue the conference roundup play with three matches on Saturday. Benedict takes on Albany State at 8 a.m. at the Richland County Tennis Center on Parklane Road. At noon, Benedict faces Stillman, the defending SIAC champions, at Columbia Tennis Center. Benedict takes on Tuskegee at 3 p.m. at Greenview Park.
