MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Benedict College women's tennis team went 5-1 at the second SIAC Tennis Roundup.
The Lady Tigers defeated Clark Atlanta, 5-4; LeMoyne-Owen, 5-0; Spring Hill, 9-0; Tuskegee, 5-4; and Albany State, 6-0. The Lady Tigers dropped a 7-2 decision to Stillman, falling to Stillman for the second time this season.
Benedict moves to 12-7 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC.
Esther Zelaya, at No. 2 singles, has comprised a 9-0 conference record and 14-2 overall. Sophomore
Karla Flores, at No. 1 singles, is 8-2 in singles in the conference and 11-5 overall. Freshman
Daniella Rios at No. 3 holds a 7-1 conference record and is 9-6 overall. Zelaya and Rios are 11-1 in doubles against conference opponents and 12-7 overall. Senior
Belinda Camacho and
Karla Flores are 10-2 at No. 3 doubles in the conference and 11-8 overall. At the No. 5 and No. 6, the freshman team of
Juliet Campbell and
Adrienne Milow are 8-4 in conference doubles action.
The Lady Tigers will wrap up the regular season against Shaw University on Tuesday, which will be Senior Day. The Lady Tigers will recognize their one senior, Camacho.
