COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's basketball team is eighth in the South Region preseason poll by D2SIDA.

The Tigers also received votes in a different national poll, collecting seven points in the National Association of Basketball Coaches preseason poll.

The Tigers tip off the 2016-17 season on Saturday with an exhibition game against College of Faith before opening the regular season on Tuesday against Johnson C. Smith.

The D2SIDA poll is voted on by a committee of Sports Information Directors from the South Region, which includes teams from the SIAC, Gulf South Conference, and Sunshine State Conference.

The D2SIDA Men's Basketball Division II regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
The NABC poll is released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The weekly coaches poll is being conducted by 16 members of the NABC, two representing each of the eight NCAA Division II regions.
