COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's tennis team will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Barry University, the nation's No. 6 team, in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship, it was announced Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers, 18-5, are the automatic qualifier from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after winning the SIAC tournament.

Benedict will face Barry, 17-3, on Saturday in the first round on the campus of Lynn University. The winner between Benedict and Barry will face host Lynn, the nation's fifth-ranked team, on Sunday. Lynn defeated Barry for the Sunshine State Conference title last week, snapping Barry's six-year streak of SSC championships.

Benedict is led by SIAC Player of the Year Karla Flores. Daniella Rios and Danyelle Copeland were both named to the first team All-SIAC squad. The doubles teams of Flores and Esther Zelaya and Rios and Copeland were named first team All-SIAC in doubles.

Barry's Emma Onila is the nation's third-ranked singles player, while Zuza Maciejewska is ranked No. 15. In doubles, the team of Onila and Maciejewska is ranked eighth, while Sonja Larsen and Ana Pain are the nation's No. 11 doubles team.
