PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Benedict College women's tennis team, the defending SIAC champions, advanced to the 2017 championship match with a 5-1 victory over Albany State on Tuesday.
Benedict will face Clark Atlanta in the championship match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
The Lady Tigers had a 3-0 lead after doubles play as
Karla Flores and
Victoria Izakova defeated Albany State's Latoya Boyd and Torian Foster 8-0.
Juliet Campbell and
Danyelle Copeland also rolled to an 8-0 win over Alexis Ruff and Jordan Foster.
Daniella Rios and
Caroline Nguy defeated Samantha Heard and Keona Livatt 8-1 at the No. 2 spot.
Nguy swept Foster 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles position while Rios defeated Livatt 6-0, 6-1. Albany State picked up its only point at the No. 5 spot by default.
Benedict swept Clark Atlanta in two regular season meetings. Benedict won the first meeting 7-1 in Columbia, then took an 8-1 victory in Mobile, Ala.
