MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College women's tennis team went undefeated at the second SIAC Tennis Roundup over the weekend to improve to 16-5 overall and 13-1 in conference play.
The Lady Tigers avenged their only conference loss with a 6-2 victory over Tuskegee. In their first meeting in Columbia in February, the Lady Golden Tigers defeated Benedict 5-4. In the rematch,
Danyelle Copeland got a key victory at No. 5 singles by beating Jocelyn Horton 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). Horton beat
Juliet Campbell at No. 5 singles in the first meeting.
Adrienne Milow avenged her February loss to Kori Quillin with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Benedict also defeated LeMoyne-Owen (9-0), Lane (9-0), Clark Atlanta (8-1), Albany State (9-0), Fort Valley State (9-0) and Spring Hill (7-2).Â
Benedict wrapped up the top seed for the SIAC Women's Tennis Championship, which will be played April 18 and 19 at the Peachtree Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. The Lady Tigers are the defending champions.
Benedict will close out the regular season on Thursday with a non-conference match against Winston-Salem State at 2 p.m. at the Columbia Tennis Center. The Lady Tigers will recognize their lone senior,
Danyelle Copeland.
