SUMTER, S.C. – The Benedict College women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season, falling to Coker College 8-1 on a chilly Saturday at the USC Sumter Invitational Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

Benedict's only win came at No. 1 singles, where
Caroline Nguy took a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Coker's Jennifer Ruetten.
Karla Flores dropped a close match at No. 2 singles, falling in the tiebreaker. All three of Benedict's doubles matches were close, with Nguy and Daniella Rio dropping a 9-7 match at No. 1 doubles.

Benedict, now 1-1 on the season, is back in action on Monday, at Augusta University.
