CENTRAL, S.C. – The Benedict College men's track & field team won two events and had several other outstanding performances at the Susan Rouse Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University.
Shemar Miller won the triple jump with a season-best performance of 14.47 meters (47 feet, 5 inches). He also finished second in the long jump with a jump of 6.81 meters (22 feet, 4 inches).
Shemar Hylton finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.13 in his first meet of the season.
Shun Taylor finished third with a jump of 6.58 meters (21 feet, 7 inches) in the long jump.
Bryce Ravenell finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2 inches). He also placed seventh in the long jump with 6.33 meters (20 feet, 9 inches).
Kevin Francis finished fifth overall in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.70.
Joshua Brimmer finished sixth in the discus throw with a throw of 38.58 meters (126 feet, 7 inches). He also finished eighth in the hammer throw with a 40.46 meters (132 feet, 9 inches).
Lirante Jackson finished seventh overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.47. Teammate
Philip Jackson finished 10th with a time of 52.43.
Richard McQueen finished 10th in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 18.15. He also finished 14th in the javelin throw with a throw of 36.06 meters (118 feet, 4 inches).
Chase Cohee finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time 1:01.19.

Lirante Jackson finished second with a time of 42.28.
The men's 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Shemar Hylton,
Devonta Newbold,
Josiah Atkins and
Shemar Miller finished first with a time of 3:26.92. The B team of
Andre Smith,
Shun Taylor,
Bryce Ravenell and
Philip Jackson finished 4th overall with a 3:32.09.
The Benedict track & field teams are back in action on March 19 and 20 at the Columbia International Rams Invitational.
