COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's indoor track & field team competed at the USC Invitational at the South Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex over the weekend and had several personal-best performances.
The sprinters led the way for the Lady Tigers.
Eilika Lane set a personal-best time of 7.85 in the qualifying round of the women's 60-meter dash, and then another personal-best with a blistering time of 7.78 in the semifinals, just missing the finals with all of the Division I athletes. She finished 14
th overall.
Savionna Glover ran a 7.91, finishing 13th in the 60-meter dash.
Angel Johnson also had a personal-best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.41.
Kassie Jordan ran a personal-best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.46, while
Charity Williams also ran a personal-best time of 26.90.
Kaciann Cowan ran a time of 8.33 in the 60-meter dash.
Shantel Williams ran a personal-best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.04.
The jumpers were led by Glover, who jumped jumped 11.49 meters (37 feet, 8 inches) in the triple jump.
Jada David jumped 10.92 meters (35 feet, 10 inches) in the triple jump to finish 16th overall.
Kristion Jeffries finished 18th in the triple jump with a jump of 10.70 meters (35 feet, 1 ¼ inches). She also jumped 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) in the high jump.
DeNaya Wray finished 18th overall in the triple jump with a jump of 10.69 meters (35 feet, 1 inch).
The hurdlers were led by
Santiona Freeman, who ran a personal-best time of 9.28 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 19th.
The Benedict women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Eilika Lane,
Kassie Jordan,
Charity Williams and
Jada David ran 4:02.68 to finish eighth overall.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action this weekend at the East Coast Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va.
