NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Benedict College women's cross country team finished eighth out of 13 teams at the Newberry Invitational on Saturday, October 22, 2022
 
The Lady Tigers rested some of their top runners with minor injuries.
 
Purity Kibet led the Lady Tigers by finishing fourth overall with a time of 19:27 over the 5K course. Floma Okumu finished 20th with a lifetime best time of 20:39. Cavel Barnett ran a lifetime best time of 21:26 to finish 37th overall. Eilika Lane ran 22:59 and finished 62nd overall. Sinia Massillon finished 86th with a time of 25:29.
 
Benedict will compete in the Bruins XC Invitational, hosted by Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., next Saturday in their final tune-up for the 2022 Cricket SIAC Cross Country Championship at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Ga. On November 4.
