VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Benedict College women's indoor track and field sprinter
Eilika Lane clocked a NCAA Indoor Championship provisional qualifying time, and the 4x400-meter relay team captured a first place in the East Coast Invitational with several other noteworthy performances.
Lane finished third overall, and the first non-Division 1 runner, in the women's 400-meter run, clocking a time of 56.52. That time is a provisional NCAA qualifying time for the D2 Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, March 11-12. The time is currently the 19
th-fastest in the country, and the best in the South Region.
Lane warmed up for the 400-meter run by matching her personal best in the 60-meter dash, winning her preliminary heat with a time of 7.78.
Savionna Glover represented Benedict in the finals of the 60-meter dash, finishing sixth with a personal-best time of 7.86.
Glover also finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.61 meters (18 feet, 5 inches) and is currently ranked third in the South Region.
Aanya Howard jumped a personal best in the high jump with a jump of 1:58 meters (5 feet, 2 inches). She finished second overall and is currently ranked third in the South Region.
Jada David jumped a personal best with a jump of 11.21 meters (36 feet, 9 inches) in the triple jump, to finish ninth overall. She is currently ranked fourth in the South Region.
DeNaya Wray finished 11th overall with a personal best jump of 10.80 meters (35 feet, 5 inches) in the triple jump, and is currently ranked eighth in the South Region. She also jumped 5.10 meters (16 feet) in the long jump.
Kyra Buffen jumped 5.14 meters (16 feet, 10 inches) in the long jump. She is currently ranked 14th in the South Region.
The hurdlers were led by
Santiona Freeman, who ran a personal best time in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.00 and making her first collegiate hurdle finals. She finished sixth overall and is currently ranked fourth in the South Region.
Shamia Colden-Burson threw a personal best in the weight throw of 12.70 meters (41 feet, 8 inches). She finished ninth overall and is currently ranked 24th in the South Region.
Paris Stanton hit a personal best in the shot put of 12.41 meters (40 feet, 8 inches). She finished sixth overall and is ranked fifth in the South Region. She also hit a personal best in the weight throw of 11.87 meters (38 feet, 11 inches). She finished 10th and is currently ranked 18th in the region.

Santiona Freeman finished first overall with a time of 4:17.
The Benedict track teams compete in their final indoor event of the season on Feb. 19 at the USC Indoor Open.
