CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Benedict College women's outdoor track & field team competed at the 49er Classic on the campus of Charlotte University and had one of their best outings of the season.
Savionna Glover dominated the field in the triple jump, recording a NCAA provisional qualifying mark and personal best jump of 12.12 meters (39 feet, 9 inches), the third-best mark in NCAA Division II so far this season. She also finished second in the long jump with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 5.82 meters (19 feet, 1 ¼ inches), the eighth-best mark in Division II this season.
Paris Stanton led the throwers this week, recording a school record in the shot put with a mark of 13.22 meters (43 feet, 4 ½ inches) to finish second. She also threw the discus 22.05 meters (74 feet, 5 inches).
Kassie Jordan ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.95. She finished eighth overall. She also ran a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.45, finishing fifth. She is currently ranked No. 1 in both events in the SIAC.
Santiona Freeman finished 11th and ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.78. She also ran a personal best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.58. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the SIAC in the hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash.
Kaciann Cowan ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.03. She finished 13th overall and is currently ranked second in the SIAC.
Sinia Massillon ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a season best time of 15.94. She also ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a season best time of 1:11.56. She is currently ranked fourth in both events in the SIAC.
Eilika Lane ran a season best time of 2:22 in the 800-meter run and is currently ranked No. 1 in the SIAC.
Naila Harris ran a season best time of 2:31 in the 800-meter run and ran a season best in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:35. She is currently ranked third in the 800-meter and fourth in the 1500-meter in the SIAC.
Kyra Buffen jumped a personal best of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 ½ inches) and finished ninth in the high jump. She jumped 5.51 meters (18 feet, 1 inch) in the long jump to finish fifth overall. She also jumped 11.31 meters (37 feet, 1 inch) in the triple jump and finished fifth. She is ranked second in the SIAC in both the long jump and high jump and fifth in the triple jump. Buffen also ran the 400-meter hurdles with a season best time of 1:11.67 and finished 13th overall.
Aanya Howard jumped a season best in the high jump with a jump of 1:58 meters (5 feet, 2 inches). She finished ninth overall.
Jane Kiborus ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:26.27and a season best time of 11:20 in the 3,000-meter run. She is currently ranked first in the SIAC in the 1,500-meter and second in the 5,000-meter run.
Floma Okumu ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:52.48, and a season best time of 12:30 in the 3,000-meter run.
Benedict will compete at the Weems Baskin meet at the University of South Carolina this weekend.
