COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict women's outdoor track & field team competed at the USC Weems Baskin meet over the weekend, and had several outstanding performances.
Eilika Lane ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.72. She also ran a season best time of 57.03 in the 400-meter dash to win the Open Division race and is currently ranked No. 1 in the SIAC in the both events.
Santiona Freeman finished ninth and ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.61. She also ran a 12.65 in the 100-meter dash. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the SIAC in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash.
Jada David jumped a personal best in the triple jump with a jump of 11.72 meters (38 feet, 5 inches). She finished eighth overall. She also ran a 1:09.83 in the 400-meter hurdles. She is ranked third in the SIAC in the hurdles.
Charity Williams ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.43. She finished 12th overall. She ran a personal best 15.94 in the 100-meter hurdles. She is currently ranked second in the SIAC in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Kyra Buffen jumped a personal best of 5.65 meters (18 feet, 6 inches) in the long jump to finish fourth overall. She also jumped 11.26 meters (36 feet, 11 inches ) in the triple jump to finish fifth. She is ranked second in the SIAC in the long jump and high jump, and fifth in the triple jump.
Shamia Colden-Burson threw a personal best in the hammer throw with a throw of 38.35 meters (125 feet, 10 inches). She is ranked third in the SIAC. She also threw 31.15 meters (102 feet, 2 inches) in the discus throw.
Jane Kiborus finished ninth in the 5,000-meter open race with a personal-best time of 18:56.06. She also ran a personal best in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:07.90. She is currently ranked first in the SIAC 1,500-meter run and second in the 5,000-meter run.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Eilika Lane,
Kassie Jordan,
Jada David and
Naila Harris finished 11th against all of the nationally ranked Division I programs with a time of 4:04.77 and is ranked No. 1 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers will compete at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitaitonal on Friday.
