COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's track & field team had an outstanding weekend at the USC Indoor Open in their final indoor meet of the regular season.
Rajaun Ricketts jumped a personal-best 14.99 meters (49 feet, 2 ¼ inches) in the triple jump to finish third in the event and move up to 16
th nationally. Teammate
Shemar Miller jumped 15.27 meters (50 feet, 1 ¼ inches) to finish second. Miller is ranked sixth nationally.
Matthew Paul got a personal record in the men's 400 meters with a time of 49.31 to finish eighth.
Sergio White also set a personal record in the 400 meters with a time of 50.36, finishing 16th.
Quincy Harris also ran a personal record of 52.01 for a 28
th-place finish.
Sadiki Marsh ran a personal record in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:55.86.
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of White, Marsh,
Devonta Newbold and Paul, ran a 3:18.53 to finish fourth.
With a top tier performance,
Caleb Vance threw 15.28 meters (50 feet, 1 ¾ inches) in the weight throw to finish in ninth, while
Markel Bryant threw a 11.95 meters (39 feet, 2 ½ inches). Vance also finished 10
th in the shot put with a mark of 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8 ¾ inches).
Shun Taylor had an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.80 meters (22 feet, 3 ¾ inches).
Donald Kibet finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:34.78.
Kelvin Tillman finished fifth in a crowded field in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.83. He finished ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.96.
The Tigers open the outdoor schedule of their season on March 4 at the Savannah Relays in Savannah, Ga.
