COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's outdoor track and field team, the defending conference champions, stand in third place heading into the final day of the 2026 SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, presented by Toyota, at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina on Wednesday.
The Tigers picked up 19 points on the second day of competition.
DuShaun Tucker was a medalist, finishing third in the shot put with a mark of 14.90 meters (48 feet, 10 ½ inches) on his final attempt, to earn six points.
Morris Walker finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 45.68 meters (149 feet, 10 inches) to earn five points.
Mondell Hutto finished fifth in the triple jump to score five points, jumping 14.37 meters (47 feet, 1 ¾ inches) on his final attempt.
Steven Salley finished seventh and earned two points with a jump of 14.18 meters (46 feet, 6 ¼ inches).
In preliminary running events on Wednesday,
Terrel Alexander advanced to the finals of the 400-meter dash with the second-fastest time, 47.77 seconds.
David Smith advanced to the finals of the 100-meter dash with the third-best time, 10.59 seconds.
Jacobie Sims advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.14, the seventh-fastest time of the day.
Bravin Bor advanced to the finals of the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:21.79, the seventh-fastest time of the day.
Jaiquez Gibson picked up two points with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 2.90 meters (9 feet, 6 ¼ inches).
Benedict's 4x400-meter relay team of Sims,
Josiah Lacey,
Stephen Judd, and Alexander advanced to the finals with a time of 3:20.76, the sixth-best time of the day.
Morehouse leads the men's standings after two days with 58 points, while Allen University is second with 43 points and Benedict is third with 42 points. Tuskegee is fourth with 34 points.
The championship will continue with the final day of competition on Thursday, with medal events in javelin, high jump, 4x100-meter relay, 1,500-meter run, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 5,000-meter run, and 4x400-meter relay.
