Benedict's Washington Qualifies For NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Benedict College senior Zack Washington has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be held May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas.
 
Washington will be making his second consecutive appearance in the outdoor national championship in the long jump event. Washington enters this year's championship with the seventh-best jump in Division II, with a mark of 7.61 meters (24 feet, 11 ¾ inches) at the Duke University Invitational on April 10.
 
Washington finished fifth in last year's outdoor championship with a jump of 7.61 meters and earned All-American status.
 
Earlier this year, he finished fifth at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship in the long jump with a mark of 7.42 meters (24 feet, 3 ¾ inches), and earned All-American status.
 
The long jump event is set to take place on the first day of competition, Thursday May 21, at 2:30 p.m. local time (3:30 p.m. Eastern).
