COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's track & field team had a record-breaking weekend at the USC Indoor Open in their final indoor meet of the regular season.
Megan Thompson set a new school record in the women's 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:05.01.
Thompson was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team, which also set a school record with a time of 3:51.66. The team of
Torianne Noad,
Kassie Jordan, Thompson and
Kanesha Moses finished third overall.
Moses ran 57.72 to finish seventh overall in the 400-meter run. Noad also set a new personal record with a time of 58.90.
Purity Kibet ran a personal record in the women's mile-run with a time of 5:28.69 to finish fourth, and
Floma Okumu came through with a time of 5:37.60 to finish eighth. Okumu also set a new personal record in 800 meters with a time of 2:31.55 for a fourth-place finish.
Santiona Freeman ran a time of 8.75 in the women's 60-meters hurdles to finish sixth, and 26.02 in the 200 meters.
Kaciann Cowan set a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.05 for 10
th place, and
Cailyn Johnson came in with a time of 9.37.
Yassmine Chambers set a new personal record in the weight throw of 12.05 meters (39 feet, 6 ½ inches).
In the long jump,
Jada David set a new personal record with a jump of 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches) to finish 19th.
Adrienne Daniels set a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.48, and
Sinia Massillon also set a new personal record in the 400 meters.
The Lady Tigers open the outdoor schedule of their season on March 4 at the Savannah Relays in Savannah, Ga.
