COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's tennis team will take on the nation's top-ranked team in Barry University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.
Benedict will take on Barry on Monday, May 1 at 9 a.m. on the campus of Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.
The Lady Tigers won their second straight SIAC Championship with a 4-2 victory over Albany State on April 16 to improve to 11-7 on the season.
Barry is 22-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country. The Lady Bucs have won 83 straight matches, including the last five national championships and seven national titles overall.
The winner of Monday's Benedict vs. Barry match will take on the winner of fourth-seed Lynn (18-5) and fifth-seed West Alabama (19-5) on May 2.
The winning team from each site will advance to the finals, May 12-16, in Orlando, Florida. Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts.
