ATLANTA, Ga.
–The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced the 2023 Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference Team, released Thursday. The all-conference teams are comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their athletic performance during the regular season.
This year's women's all-conference team was headlined by the defending champions, Benedict College, who placed 10 honorees on this year's team. Savannah State followed with eight selections followed by Lane who finished with six selections. Albany State and Central State each placed four on this year's all-conference team. Fort Valley State earned a pair of all-conference selections while Kentucky State, Miles, Spring Hill, and Tuskegee completed this year's women's all-conference team with one selection.
For the Lady Tigers,
Megan Thompson was a two-time first-team selection in both the 800-meter run and 400-meter hurdles.
Purity Kibet was a two-team selection, earning first-team honors in the 5,000-meter run and second-team honors in the 1,500-meter run.
Shantel Williams was named first-team in the 100-meter dash and
Floma Okumu earned first-team in the 10,000-meter run.
Jane Kiborus earned a pair of second-team All-Conference honors in the 5,000-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Santiona Freeman earned second-team honors in the 100-meter hurdles, while
Jada David earned second-team honors in the triple jump.
The Elite 14 award recognized the student-athlete who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the SIAC championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Jireh Jones and Saniya Keeton of Tuskegee are this year's men and women's track and field Elite 14 recipients.
The 2023 SIAC Track & Field Championship is set to take place April 27-29, 2023, at Morehouse College's Edwin Moses Track in Atlanta, GA. For more information, click
