ATLANTA, Ga. – The Benedict College women's track & field team fell to second place after the second day at the 2023 Cricket SIAC Championship on Friday at Morehouse College's Edwin T. Moses Track.
The Lady Tigers earned 23 points on Friday for a two-day total of 53 points. Clark Atlanta earned 38 points on Friday to vault into first place with 54 points. Savannah State jumped into third place with 41 points. Fort Valley State (37 points) and Albany State (36 points) are also within striking distance.
In the hammer throw,
Paris Stanton finished fourth with a throw of 39.37 meters (139 feet, 2 inches), and
Yassmine Chambers finished sixth with a throw of 38.9 meters (127 feet, 7 inches).
Elaine Robinson had a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 ½ inches).
The Lady Tigers had three finishers in the top eight of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Purity Kibet was fourth (13:30.56),
Jane Kiborus was fifth (13:37.27) and
Lydia Kosgei was eighth (14:46.79).
Saturday's final schedule continues with the women's high jump and javelin in field events, and finals in 10 track events: 100-meters, 200-meters, 400-meters, 800-meters, 1,500-meters, 5,000-meters, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 4x100-meter relay race, and 4x400-meter relay race.
