CARY, N.C. – The Benedict College women's cross country team finished 10
th out of 12 teams at the Cedric Walker HBCU Cross Country Challenge as part of the Great American Cross Country Festival at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday.
Benedict finished with a score of 247. Fayetteville State was the top finisher with 48 points, followed by North Carolina Central (62), North Carolina A&T (80), Virginia Union (140), Lincoln (Pa.) (145), Winston-Salem State (147), Virginia State (163), Shaw (215), Livingstone (221), and Benedict. Allen (260) and Elizabeth City State (327) rounded out the field.
Mercy Kwambai was Benedict's top finisher, coming in 32
nd overall with a time of 22:53.4 over the 5K course.
Megan Thompson finished 43rd overall with a time of 23:52.1.
Torriann Noad was 54
th with a time of 27:28.0, while
Lydia Kosgei was 58
th with a time of 28:58.5.
Kanesha Moses finished 72
nd with a time of 32:56.6.
The Lady Tigers will compete in the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday.
